Meet Vikki
“YOGA OFFERS ME STRENGTH, STILLNESS AND LIGHT”Get to know me…
I’m Vikki, a qualified yoga teacher based in Aberdeenshire. I’ve been practicing yoga for over 20 years, learning, and adapting from various inspirational people that I have met along the way. Now situated in Banchory, where I live with my husband and two children, I enjoy practicing yoga and meditation to maintain strength, flexibility and calm.
Where it all began
In the winter of 1999, I fell in love with practicing yoga whilst living in Whistler, Canada. It was amazing how good my body and mind felt after class! With regular practice, I really started to see the benefits of yoga, uniting mind, body, and breath to bring myself into the present moment. It not only gave me a sense of inner peace and happiness, but it also improved my physical and mental health.
I continued to practice yoga for several years and then decided to embark on doing my teacher training. I completed this in 2006, after a month-long training intensive (over 200 hours) in the jungle at Nosara Yoga in Costa Rica. As you can imagine, this experience completely changed my life!
Since then, I have travelled the world and lived in many different locations, but I have always found the time to practice yoga. I have been blessed with meeting so many wonderful people along the way, taking inspiration from the other yoga specialists that crossed my path.
My kind of yoga…
I teach an interdisciplinary style of yoga and my classes are taught from the heart, with passion and spontaneity. Many of my life experiences influence my yoga teachings and I also take great inspiration from the healing power of sound. Music helps to clear the mind, so we can be present with ourselves and with one another. In Vinyasa flow, it also helps us to focus on linking the breath with creative movement.
